Simone R. Martin, a native of Salisbury, North Carolina, received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with a Chemistry minor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Simone subsequently completed the coursework required to earn a Master of Arts Degree in English from North Carolina Central University before enrolling in the University of South Carolina School of Law (USC). 

While in law school at USC, Simone was very active with the Moot Court Bar, named Order of the Barrister and winning both the 2011 and 2012 Internal Moot Court Competitions; was appointed to hold a national executive office with the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA); and participated in the Study Abroad Maymester Program at The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in London, England, among other activities. In addition, during her time at USC, Simone interned with The Honorable Donald W. Beatty, the current Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court; with the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina; with the Chief Legal Counsel for the Office of former-South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley; at multi-state corporate defense law firm; and for the Minority Leader of the South Carolina House of Representatives​.  

Following the completion of her law degree in 2013, Simone served as Judicial Law Clerk to The Honorable Clifton Newman of the South Carolina Circuit Court.  At the conclusion of her year-long judicial clerkship, Simone joined a boutique law firm based in Columbia, South Carolina, where she practiced in general litigation—focusing primarily on criminal defense, personal injury, and municipal governmental affairs—until opening her own law firm in 2017.  

Simone ventured to start a firm where she could represent her clients the way they deserved to be represented–with diligence, with pride, and with compassion. Hence, the notion of putting her clients first, and fighting aggressively for them at all costs, is the foundation of Martin Legal, LLC.  Throughout the course of her career, Simone has had the privilege of defending hundreds of individuals charged with committing crimes (from speeding tickets to murder), and bringing countless civil lawsuits on behalf of injured clients.  Simone advocates for her clients with passion, always seeking the best possible result obtainable.  Simone has a proven track record of successes in both State and Federal Courts, and she takes pride in her work, knowing that it is a privilege to fight for the injured and accused.  

​In her free time, Simone enjoys singing–having served as opening vocalist for John Legend, Music Soulchild, and Boyz II Men concerts–and engaging her interest in legal journalism, as she has appeared on "CNN with Don Lemon", "The Nancy Grace Show", "The D.L. Hughley Show", and local SC news stations, and has been quoted in "The New Yorker", on WhiteHouse.gov, on Politico.com, in a plethora of statewide newspapers, and more.  Simone is a member of New Hope A.M.E. Zion Church in Salisbury, North Carolina, and takes part in community programing through her affiliation with the Delta Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
